Last updated on December 15, 2025

Video export guide

Video export is one of the most exciting ways to bring your sound wave art to life! Transform your static designs into animated MP4 videos where your waveform bars dance in sync with your audio. Perfect for social media, presentations, and sharing your creations in motion.

What is Video Export?

Video export allows you to download your sound wave designs as animated MP4 videos. The waveform bars animate in sync with your audio, creating a dynamic visual representation of your sound. This powerful feature opens up new creative possibilities:

  • Social media posts (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc.)
  • Presentations and slideshows
  • Website previews and demos
  • Sharing your designs in a more engaging format

Key Features

Animated Waveform Bars

Watch your sound wave come to life! The waveform bars animate smoothly, lighting up in sync with your audio. This creates a mesmerizing visual effect that captures attention and brings your design to life.

High-Quality Rendering

Our videos are rendered at 30fps using professional-grade Remotion technology, ensuring smooth, high-quality animations that look great on any screen.

Multiple Export Sizes

Choose the perfect size for your needs:

  • Optimized: Perfect for social media with smaller file sizes
  • 1080p: Standard HD quality for most use cases
  • Large: Higher resolution for professional presentations

Static Design Elements

Your entire design is preserved in the video - backgrounds, text, images, and all customizations remain exactly as you designed them. While only the waveform bars animate, all your design elements are beautifully included in the final video.

How Video Export Works

Supported Audio Sources

Video export works best with user-uploaded audio files. This includes:

  • Audio files you upload (MP3, WAV, M4A, AIF, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, OGG)
  • Audio recordings made directly in WaveVisual

Why uploaded files? Using your own audio files ensures the best video quality and gives you full control over your content. This approach also allows us to provide the highest quality rendering without any restrictions.

Animation Details

What animates:

  • Sound wave bars (opacity changes and seeker line movement)
  • The waveform visualization itself

What's included (static):

  • Background colors and gradients
  • Background images
  • Text overlays
  • QR codes
  • All other design elements

This creates a beautiful effect where your animated waveform is the star, while your carefully designed background and text elements provide the perfect frame.

Best Practices for Amazing Video Exports

1. Use High-Quality Audio

Start with the best audio file you can. Higher quality audio results in more detailed waveforms and better-looking videos.

2. Keep It Short and Impactful

Shorter videos (5-30 seconds) work best for social media and are faster to render. They also keep viewers engaged and file sizes manageable. Note: Video exports are limited to a maximum of 8 minutes. If your audio exceeds this limit, the MP4 export option will be disabled. Use the trim feature to select the most important segment of your audio.

3. Choose High Contrast Colors

Use colors with good contrast so the animation is clearly visible. Vibrant colors against darker backgrounds (or vice versa) create the most striking effects.

4. Design with Video in Mind

While backgrounds don't animate, they're still important! Simple, clean backgrounds work best for video, allowing your animated waveform to be the focus.

5. Consider Your Platform

Think about where you'll share the video:

  • Square format (1:1) for Instagram posts
  • 16:9 format for YouTube and presentations
  • Vertical format (9:16) for Instagram Stories and TikTok

6. Test First

Export a short test video (5-10 seconds) to see how your design looks in motion before creating a longer version.

Use Cases

Social Media

Create eye-catching content for:

  • Instagram feed posts and stories
  • TikTok videos
  • Twitter/X posts
  • Facebook posts

Pro tip: Keep videos under 15 seconds for maximum engagement on social platforms.

Presentations

Add dynamic elements to:

  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Keynote slides
  • Portfolio showcases
  • Client presentations

Pro tip: Use 10-30 second clips to add visual interest without overwhelming your audience.

Website Integration

Use videos for:

  • Product previews
  • Feature demonstrations
  • Landing page animations
  • Portfolio showcases

Pro tip: Optimize file size for web and consider autoplay settings for the best user experience.

Video Specifications

  • Format: MP4 (H.264 codec)
  • Frame rate: 30fps
  • Default duration: 60 seconds or audio length (whichever is shorter)
  • Maximum duration: 8 minutes
  • Quality: High-quality rendering with professional-grade output

Tips for Success

File Size Management

  • Shorter videos = smaller file sizes
  • Lower resolution = smaller file sizes
  • Use "Optimized" size for social media to keep files manageable

Rendering Time

  • Shorter videos render faster
  • Be patient - longer videos can take several minutes
  • You'll see progress updates during the export process

Getting the Best Results

  • Use uploaded audio files for the best quality
  • Keep videos relatively short (5-30 seconds) for best performance
  • Test with a short clip first to see how your design looks animated
  • Choose colors and backgrounds that complement the animation

Troubleshooting

MP4 option is not available:

  • Make sure you're using an uploaded audio file (not a Spotify song)
  • Verify your design has audio associated with it

Video is taking too long to render:

  • Longer videos take more time to process
  • Try exporting a shorter segment first
  • Check your internet connection

MP4 option is disabled:

  • Video exports are limited to 8 minutes maximum for now
  • If your audio (or trimmed segment) exceeds 8 minutes, the MP4 option will be disabled
  • Use the trim feature to select a segment under 8 minutes
  • The limit applies to the trimmed duration if you've trimmed your audio, or the full duration if no trimming is applied

Video file is too large:

  • Consider exporting at a smaller size
  • Shorter videos will have smaller file sizes
  • You can compress the video using external tools if needed
